JTA Certification

Nicola Davis is qualified to teach temari and help students submit for the Level 1 and 2 exams with the Japan Temari Association (JTA). Assessments are held in late Spring each year.

Level 1 (Honka Shuuryou)

Taking this step is about increasing your appreciation of the art of temari, perfecting your stitching and gaining confidence to try more challenging designs.

At the end of Level 1 you should feel comfortable preparing your mari (ball), marking a variety of divisions accurately, and stitching a range of basic designs.

Level 2 (Koutouka Shuuryou)

This course is about taking your stitching to a new level, embracing more complex techniques and learning how to write up a pattern for others to follow.

At the end of Level 2 you should feel confident both in tackling more challenging designs and in following instructions and diagrams found in JTA books.
