The Twisted Thread is created and run by temari expert Nicola Davis

A qualified temari teacher, Nicola enjoys creating designs that blend mathematics and symmetry with unexpected twists of colour. She believes embroidery is a unique medium through which to explore ancient traditions while expressing a modern experience of the world.

A member of the Japan Temari Association (JTA), Nicola runs temari workshops online and in person to introduce others to this beautiful form of embroidery. She strongly values and respects the cultural history of temari, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards in the art.

Nicola has passed her level three (Shihan/Teacher) course with the JTA, granting her the JTA’s ‘teaching license’, and is currently preparing to submit for the fourth and final level (Kyoujyu Nintei/Master).
